Our Story

Tailgating Central began in 2019 with just four schools and a simple idea: women deserved better options for college game day style.

Since then, we’ve grown to offer merchandise for more than 12 schools. In 2020, we opened our first storefront and later expanded into our first Painted Tree location.

Today, Tailgating Central continues to grow and evolve, but our goal remains the same: to provide unique game day apparel, accessories, and gifts along with customer service that makes shopping with us easy and enjoyable.

Because every game day deserves a great outfit.

Meet Katherine

I grew up in Richardson, Texas, and after graduating from Texas Tech University, I made my way back home to Richardson.

I’m a third-generation college sports fan, so you could say school spirit runs in the family! Some of my favorite memories are of my family gathered together watching our teams move the ball down the field or court—usually with plenty of cheering (and maybe a little yelling at the TV!).

My four years in the Texas Tech marching band only made my love for college sports stronger. There’s just something about the traditions, excitement, and energy surrounding college athletics—especially when football season rolls around. And don't even get me started on March Madness!

Entrepreneurship runs in my family, too. Both of my parents are entrepreneurs at heart, and it didn't take long for me to realize I had inherited that same spirit. After spending years working in brick-and-mortar retail, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. Combining my retail experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and love of college sports eventually led me to create Tailgating Central in 2019.

When I'm not working on Tailgating Central, you'll usually find me spending time with my amazing husband, family, and friends, traveling, volunteering at my church, or participating in my local Junior League.

And during the fall? There's a very good chance I'm watching college football!

One of my absolute favorite places to be is on my parents' patio on a Saturday morning, watching ESPN College GameDay and settling in for a full day of football. Of course, being back in Lubbock on a fall game day is pretty hard to beat, too.

Owning Tailgating Central has been both the best and hardest job I've ever had, and I wouldn't trade it. I'm incredibly grateful for every customer, every opportunity, and every step of this journey.

Above all, I'm thankful to God for His continued blessings and for the opportunity to do something I truly love.
